Steve joined IG Wealth Management in North Bay in 2008 after spending 15 years as the operator of four high volume restaurants in Toronto. Steve has both a personal and professional passion for finance and financial planning. He is also actively involved in the North Bay community through his many volunteer activities and philanthropic activities. He is the chair of One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre (OKP) has sat on the Board of the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Invest North Bay. He is involved in countless other committees all focused on making North Bay a better place to live and work. Steve and his family give back to the community through donations to many charities including Chat4Chad, the North Bay Hospital Foundation, One Kids Place (Autism Summer Camp program), the North Bay Food Bank (Deacon Family Center) and The Village at Canadore College (Deacon Family Meeting Place). In 2015, Steve was awarded the Herbert H. Carnegie Community Service Award at IG, which recognizes outstanding client service and exceptional long-term community service at a national level.

Steve was born and raised in Northern Ontario in the mining town of Cobalt. He is married to Mark Deacon, and they have two sons–Freddy and Will–as well as several dogs and an indeterminate number of horses.

Ashley Brookes RRC

Associate Consultant & Practice Manager

Ashley is Deacon Wealth Management’s Associate Consultant and Practice Manager. Since joining the team, Ashley has risen quickly through the ranks and has now set her sights on obtaining her Insurance License and then her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation.

With extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, Ashley’s client service skills have garnered her a loyal following. And as the Practice Manager, she works to ensure that the team is coordinated and compliant with the financial industry’s rigorous regulations.

Married to her high school sweetheart, Ashley is a mother of three young men, and in her spare time is also an avid community volunteer.

Alice Desloges

Executive Assistant

Alice joined the practice in May 2021, after working at IG since December 2000. She ensures that the essential administration for each client transaction is completed flawlessly, and that all transactions are fully compliant.

Alice–or Ally to many people–also works directly with our clients to facilitate individual transactions, and to ensure that all client information is current and complete. Her vast experience allows her to provide exceptional service that helps to keep our clients involved and informed.

Ally and her husband Gerry enjoy spending time with family and friends,  being active outdoors and spending time at their camper. She also loves gardening and spending time crafting and quilting.

Katie Brookes

Business Development Coordinator

Katie is our Business Development Coordinator and leads the efforts to ensure that every client has a meaningful and complete financial plan using IG’s proprietary financial planning software known as LPP. Katie brings extensive client service experience, as well as strong skills in online data management. In addition to owning the completion of many "back office" tasks, Katie is the team's lead on digital marketing presence. With two daughters at home, Katie maintains an impressive pace at work and at home. In her free time, she loves camping and hiking with her family.

Melissa McKenny

Assistant

A North Bay native, Melissa has extensive experience in finance and project management. Having first started at IG in 2012, Melissa has focused her career on the ins and outs of financial planning, taxation, and has become proficient in estate planning and settlements. She has a deep understanding of mortgages and has also served as a new hire trainer. Her dedication to proactive client service, along with her impressive background makes her an ideal member of our team.  

Melissa holds a diploma in Community and Justice Services from Canadore College, and spends her free time with her two children exploring the outdoors and new places.

Josee Boyle

Assistant

Josee Boyle is a key member of the Deacon Wealth Management team. She accurately and quickly completes the many back-office transactions that are an essential part of delivering great service to our clients. A native of North Bay, Josee studied business administration at Cambrian College in Sudbury, and has returned home to start her career in finance. Josee is an avid horseperson and when she isn’t at the office, you can find her at horse shows, hanging out with her “horsey” friends or riding her horses (Zane and Crystal).

Mark Deacon

Marketing & Event Coordinator

Mark leads the team's marketing efforts and coordinates all practice events and event participation. He also takes care of the practice's physical space and is procurement lead (which means he runs to Staples for us!). After a 20-year career as VP of a Fortune 500 company, Mark truly enjoys being an active part of the family business and loves the many opportunities to interact with our clients. Mark (and Steve) are dedicated dads to their sons Will and Fred.
